Welcome to Aromatics International!

Aromatics International is dedicated to the growing practice of Aromatherapy and Aromatherapists worldwide. As part of our commitment to quality assurance we test every batch of essential oil we purchase from a distiller with GC/MS (Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) technology. We assign a batch number to each bottle of essentiall oil that references the oil's GC/MS report.

In order for essential oils to be considered therapeutic grade we believe they must be pure plant extracts. The best way to assure the purity and quality of an essential oil is by knowing the source and testing the essential oil. Customers can access the GC/MS report for every essential oil on AromaticsInternational.com before making a purchase. Every report is archived and available to print for free.

Every single one of our essential oils is either "Certified Organic," "Wild Crafted" or "Unsprayed." All of the essential oils, carrier oils and butters sold on AromaticsInternational.com are free of chemicals, herbicides and pesticides. We use these 3 terms to describe the growing conditions of the plants used to distill our oils. "Certified Organic" means that the distiller we buy the oil from is Certified Organic. "Wild Crafted" means the distiller has harvested plants that are growing wild and distilled those plants. "Unsprayed" means the distiller is not certified organic, and is growing the plants without the use of chemicals, herbicides and pesticides.

Little known facts

Did you know...?

Ginger essential oil is wonderful for warming up a stiff and painful joint.

Opopanax essential oil will calm a spastic cough, open the sinuses and clear congestion from allergies.

Lavender essential oil can help heal a painful sunburn, clear up acne and clean a cut or wound.

Many of the distillers we work with worldwide live in remote, rural communities and are not "certified" organic by any governmental body. However, they are still deeply dedicated to organic growing and grow all their plants without the use of any chemical pesticides. Due to the increased cost of the organic certification some farmers simply can not afford to become certified. Aromatics International supports all farmers and distillers that practice organic farming.

Personally working with international distillers
has given us a deep appreciation for the amount of work involved in getting each little bottle of essential oil to the customer. The farmers plant their fields with the aromatic crops, farm without the use of chemicals, harvest the plants, distill the oils, and finally make those essential oils available for us to purchase and use. Each step of this process requires years of knowledge, precise attention, hard physical labor, and a love of plants.

We have traveled internationally to meet the farmers who have taken the time to learn the art of cultivating and distilling aromatic plants. Each plant is distilled at a different temperature, and for differing lengths of time. It takes an enormous amount of plant material to distill small amounts of therapeutic grade essential oils. Growing, harvesting, and distilling essential oils is a true science and art, and a blessing for those of us who treasure these oils in our personal lives.

Most distillers only grow and distill a small selection of plants that grow in their region. This is why we buy from many different distillers to acquire the variety of oils we sell on Aromatics International. Our Bulgarian distiller only distills Rose essential oil. Some of the French distillers have a selection of 10 or 12 essential oils each. The growers in India distill essential oils from plants that are indigenous to India, such as Black Pepper, Spikenard, Sandalwood, Juniper and beautiful Lavender. The distillers we work with in Ethiopia specialize in the resin essential oils such as Frankincense, Myrrh, and Opopanax. Working with essential oils brings together an international community of people who care deeply about plants and healing through the use of essential oils.
